Updating and Replacing a SolidWorks License

For Network Licenses (SolidWorks License Manager)

Step 1: Deactivate the Existing License

  1. Open the SolidWorks License Manager on the server.
  2. Go to the Server Administration tab.
  3. Click Modify and choose Deactivate to release the license.

Step 2: Install the New Version (if upgrading)

  1. Download the latest SolidWorks installation files from the Customer Portal.
  2. Locate “SoWo_License_Manager” folder inside the package and run the setup.exe as Administrator.
  3. Follow the steps on the installer, SolidWorks License Manager installer will locate the existing installation and will upgrade it.

Step 3: Reactivate the License

  1. After installation, open the SolidWork License Manager.
  2. Go to the Server Administration tab and click ReActivate.
  3. Activation will be done over the internet.

Step 4: Verify Activation

Check the License Usage tab to ensure the new license is active and available to clients.
