BCT aClass

Search Performance

The search performance has been improved. This results in time savings of at least 30 % compared to previous versions.

BCT Substitute for Single Parts

With BCT Substitute now you can replace not only variants of a part family but also single components and UDFs in NX.

Multiple External Doc functions

Via the External Doc function, which can be found in the instance context menu, now more than only one specific script can be executed. The function calls the corresponding batch script in a certain directory and passes the ID of the selected instance to it. For each batch script which is found in this directory a menu entry will be added. The scripts can be customized to meet company needs.

Additional class label

Additional class labels can be added via the configuration. If a label is set in the configuration, BCT aClass will allow users to select this new label as part of the display name, analogous to Name, ID, and Alias. Administrators can set the value for the custom field when creating or editing nodes.

Formatting options for class names

Classes can be formatted with different options. The style will be used in the class tree and in other control elements which display classes, to highlight a frequently used class for example. The text style, text color and the background color can be set.

BCT IcoSync

Attach weblinks to instances

With BCT IcoSync it is possible now to add weblinks as instance documentation or to replace or delete an existing one. BCT IcoSync will search for the instances with the given ID. If a class ID is also given, the search will be narrowed down to the given class.

BCT EasyPlot

Define dataset types which are displayed in the navigator and search window

The new checkbox ‘Apply to Navigator/Search’ defines, if the dataset type selection is applied to the navigator and search view. If checked, only selected dataset types will be visible.

Configurable print job name in printer queue

The name of the print job is now configurable. It can consist of a mix of static text and Teamcenter attribute values. For example the filename of the named reference and the name of the user who started the print job can be used in the print job name. Alternate-ID is also possible.

Restricting access on datasets via Teamcenter ACL

Via the ‘Batch Print’ privilege in the Teamcenter Access Control List (ACL) specific functions can be restricted in the BCT EasyPlot Client for specific users. The ‘Batch Print’ privilege is evaluated based on the Teamcenter Access management.

Following functions can be restricted in BCT EasyPlot:

  •     The print button and print functionality in the preview window.
  •     The ‘print local’ button in the context menu in the clipboard.
  •     Viewing documents by double click on datasets in the clipboard or the thumbnail preview window.
  •     The ‘print screen’ key on the keyboard will be disabled when the BCT EasyPlot Client is started.

Furthermore it is possible to lay a watermark over the dataset preview in the preview window or in the thumbnail preview window, if the logged in user hasn’t the sufficient ‘Batch Print’ privilege for a certain dataset.

Logging events via Teamcenter Audit Log

In order to log which user is obtaining which information from BCT EasyPlot, the Teamcenter Audit Log can be used to log specific actions.

Following actions can be logged:

  •     View drawing in external viewer on double click.
  •     Display Drawing in preview or thumbnail preview window.
  •     Print drawing locally from the BCT EasyPlot Client.
  •     Print drawings from the BCT EasyPlot Server.
  •     Export datasets.

Additional BOM filter criteria ‘Priority’

In BCT EasyPlot it’s possible to filter datasets while moving an assembly to the BCT EasyPlot clipboard. The BCT EasyPlot client user has the possibility to create own filters. These filters are based on filter rules defined in the configuration.

Now it is possible to filter based on a priority. Example:

If PDF dataset and Tiff dataset exist, → print only PDF; always use UGPART + UGMASTER:

BCT TC Toolbox

Higher throughput for report generation

In order to achieve a higher throughput for report generation two new concepts have been introduced:

1. Cache mechanism for BCT Reports

Per report type it is now possible to store the results of a certain XSL transformation for further processing and reuse in a cache directory. The cache can be reused for different report types and reduces the required time for generating a report significantly.

BCT Reports Wizard contains two additional checkboxes now. By these two checkboxes the user can define for which report job the cache is either be used or written. The same settings are also now available for the BCT Report workflow handler in order to automate report generation in Teamcenter workflows.

2. Load balancing for the BCT Application Server

The BCT application server is connected to Teamcenter and generates different kinds of reports, e.g. BOM Kits.

The BCT Application Server can now be installed in a load balancing mode. In the load balancing mode it is possible to process multiple jobs for the server simultaneously. This cluster can run on a single or on multiple physical machines.

BCT Report Server Load Balancing Mode:

Runtime Property BctAskLatestStatus

The new Runtime Property ‘BctAskLatestStatus’ shows the latest release status value of the latest released revision at the Item object. The latest revision is determined depending on its creation date.

BCT Inspector

Enhanced JT compare

In version v16.1, the two JT parts will be displayed three-dimensionally merged into each other. Added, removed or modified volumes will be highlighted in colors.

Via the sliders, the transparency of the displayed differences (in red or green) can be raised or lowered.

Modifications in the product structure are highlighted in color in the structure tree window. Examples for these modifications are: added, removed or modified PMIs and views. Modified values in the PMIs are highlighted in the characteristic number (CN) table as it is known from the drawing compare.

Triggering a Teamcenter workflow after the export

It is now possible to start a workflow automatically via the BCT Inspector NX export dialog.

The workflow needs to be defined in the BCT Inspector configuration. Via the checkbox “Start workflow in Teamcenter” the user can choose whether to start a workflow. The workflow will be triggered after the successful import of the BCT Inspector project files in Teamcenter.

This function allows to start subsequent processes within NX.

Setting multiple default tolerance tables per part

Tolerance tables can now be passed on to BCT Inspector via multiple part attributes. If multiple valid tolerance tables are available, it is possible to select one of these tables for each feature. If no suitable part attributes are available, all of the configured tolerance tables will be available for each feature. The user can assign a tolerance table to a feature via the spreadsheet.

Embed external PDF documents in a BCT Inspector project

In BCT Inspector external PDF documents can now be linked. The documents are displayed directly in a separate view in BCT Inspector.

During ballooning, a selected section of the text in the PDF document can be moved into any text field (e.g. Remark) in the ballooning dialog via drag & drop. Thereby the exact source (document and page number) of the text section is determined to create a link in the spreadsheet which enables the user to jump back to this text section.

By clicking on this text section, which is a clickable link, in the spreadsheet, the PDF document will be opened at the corresponding page and the text section will be highlighted.

BCT Engineering Package

Variant preview images in the spreadsheet

The spreadsheet can now display preview images of the variants of the selected part family.
Via double-click on the preview image, the variant can be added.

BCT Spreadsheet as integrated view in BCT 3D-Pool

The spreadsheet can now be displayed as embedded view in BCT 3D-Pool. The spreadsheet of the currently selected part family will be displayed in this view.  Like in the external spreadsheet window, adding a variant is possible via double-click. Via the context menu, it is possible to switch between the preview image view and the table view.

BCT Substitute for Single Parts

With BCT Substitute, you can now replace both variants of a part family and single components and UDFs in NX.

Substituting components which were added to a part family subsequently

It is possible to replace variants which were added as normal components at first without a connection to a part family via BCT Substitute. At this point, it will be checked if this component is now a variant of a virtual part family in the BCT 3D-Pool. During the search for a fitting variant, the data, which the CSV file of the variant search contains, is used.

Additional import mode for part library source

The BCT 3D-Pool now includes new mode for adding parts which can be configured per library.
Parts from a library configured for import will be imported into the active NX part instead of added into it. The import is carried out like the NX part import function. Before the import a BCT Import Part dialog is displayed in which the settings for the import can be adjusted. The part can be positioned afterwards via the NX positioning dialog.

BCT CheckIt

BCT CheckIt Rule to check the status of a REST web service

The new BCT CheckIt Rule "checkWebserviceCall" allows checking the status of a REST web service. HTTP status and the JSON status will be checked. A URL of the web service will be passed on to the check. This URL can contain multiple placeholders for parameters containing either plaintext or variables in the format $(TeamcenterObjectType:TeamcenterObjectAttribute).

BCT CheckIt Licensing

Since version 16.0, the Teamcenter user ID is used for the license check of BCT CheckIt named user licenses. Thereby the behavior of the BCT license check is analog to the behavior of the Siemens PLM license check. Previously, the user of the operating system was used. If necessary the user names in the FLEXlm options file need to be adjusted.
