Since February 2017, the current version NX 11.0.1 is available.
In our upcoming newsletter series, we will present you the highlights and new functionalities.

The command "Combine" in NX 11.0.1 offers a revolutionary new way to create surfaces. In one single step, areas of several intersecting surfaces are trimmed and combined to one sheet body or generated directly in a solid body.

The user has the possibility to keep or remove certain areas.

You can find the command by default in the "Surface" menu bar in the Gallery Surface Operations.

It is not always easy to find a unique area from many design surfaces to create a solid body. Using the command "Combine" it is quite simple.

Using the multi-selection (dragging a window over the entire area) all surfaces are aligned to find a logical and clear volume.

All surfaces are blended in a way that a solid body emerges from all areas.

With the possibility to remove or maintain certain areas, regions must be manually selected to achieve the desired result.

To do this, there is an option available in the dialog to select an area to be maintained or removed, similar to the "Unify" function.

Benefits for the user

The "Combine" function...

  • reduces the number of steps required to create a surface or solid body from many intersecting individual surfaces. This makes it easier to develop complex shape designs from several individual surfaces.
  • improves handling and is more robust to changes and updates.
  • is faster and easier to apply compared to the "old" method.
