What does the new naming of the Teamcenter packages mean?

Explanations regarding the naming of installation packages for Teamcenter.

PL8758109: Calendar-based Version Format for Teamcenter

Starting with the Fall 2023 release of Teamcenter, the version will change to a calendar-based format.  In addition, several individual Teamcenter release packages will now be unified with Teamcenter.

Calendar-based Naming Format

As part of a Siemens Xcelerator portfolio initiative, the calendar-based version format will follow a common convention where the first two (2) digits are the year, and the last two (2) digits are the month. For example, our Fall 2023 release, expected in December 2023, will have a release number of 2312.

Release Types & Planned Cadence

A release with new functionality will be released every 6 months in the Spring and Fall. These releases will have several planned updates, formerly called patches.

Release Update Naming Format

The version format for an update is represented by the four (4) digits after the release number.

For Fall 2023 to Spring 2025 Teamcenter releases, the update format is a sequential number starting at 0001. For example, the first update for the Fall 2023 release of Teamcenter is 2312.0001.

Starting with the Fall 2025 release of Teamcenter, the update format adopts the same naming convention of the Teamcenter release which represents the year and month of release. For example, our Fall 2025 release of Teamcenter 2512 will have it's first patch planned for February 2026. The planned update is Teamcenter 2512.2602.
